I have served in this area when in service.Had done initial recconicence of this area way back in 76-77 with Col Kumar, Commandant,High Altitude Warfare School,Gulmarg.There were rumours of Pak interest in that area to develop it as a tourist spot.It didn't materialise.We had cursory interest till 80s.Then Pak floated a map in adventure sport magzine at international level wherein this area was shown in Pakistan. That's when we started wargaming of that area.musharraf as commander Pak SSG had different ideas.ISI started buying snow clothes and equipment in Switzerland in 82-83 when they were fermenting trouble in punjab.we came to know about it and rest is history. The terrain and difficulties are what you have It's a good piece of writing on such remote area. My Cudos sir.
