When was Savarkar FIRST said to have supported Nazis?
It will be useful if a proper timeline is given, instead of just discussion and arguments.

"It was around March 19, 1933, that the New York Times began to change how it reported about the symbol, claiming that the “Hooked Cross” was a foreign symbol from India called “Swastika.” It was the first time a major newspaper used this term to describe Hitler’s hate symbol – starting a changed terminology that has been amplified ever since."

"UNDER a decree signed by President von Hindenburg all German public buildings fly side by side, the black-whie-and-red flag of Imperial Germany and the Nazi banner with the swastika or hooked cross. By another decree the black-gold-and-red republican colors were banished from the German war flag."

Why did NYT start using the word Swastika?

Did it have anything to do with the founding of
- Hindu Mahasabha in 1915 and Veer Savarkar becoming the President in 1920s.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu_Mahasabha
- RSS in 1926 https://www.rss.org/Encyc/1926/1/31/1926.html

Did NYT adopt this strategy to link Hindus in India to Nazis.
Who was the first to link Hindu Nationalist organisations in India to Nazis?
